Only one bidder on bus maintenance contract
Yesterday The Boston Herald reported on IAM Local 264’s findings that the MBTA has only received one bid to take over bus maintenance operations. Although T officials told The Herald that they would not comment on specifics until the completion of the bidding process, Luis Ramirez, General Manager of the MBTA, told reporters that they now had “analytical and other baseline data it had previously lacked,” indicating that officials may move in a different direction regarding outsourcing bus maintenance. Ramirez went on to state, “The T will be able to use this information to produce a more cost-effective and efficient bus maintenance operation that will benefit both the ridership and the taxpayers of the Commonwealth.”
